He was an English navigator.
Frobisher made his first voyage to Guinea, West Africa in 1554.
In 1576 he set out to find a way north around Canada called the North West Passage. He tried again in 1577 and 1578 but the way was blocked by ice.
In 1585 he was Vice Admiral to Sir Francis Drake on the voyage to the west Indies.
In 1588 he was knighted for helping defeat the Spanish Armada.
He died when fighting the Spanish off the coast of France in 1594.
