Notes

  • He was an English navigator.
  • Frobisher made his first voyage to Guinea, West Africa in 1554.
  • In 1576 he set out to find a way north around Canada called the North West Passage. He tried again in 1577 and 1578 but the way was blocked by ice.
  • In 1585 he was Vice Admiral to Sir Francis Drake on the voyage to the west Indies.
  • In 1588 he was knighted for helping defeat the Spanish Armada.
  • He died when fighting the Spanish off the coast of France in 1594.
