Notes
|
- England and France had been at war.
- In 1520 a meeting was arranged between
Henry VIII and the King of France
to make peace.
- The meeting was near Calais in France.
- The gigantic tents for the meeting
were made of rich gold coloured cloth and so the meeting place
and the event itself became known as the Field of the Cloth of
Gold.
- The tents were also highly decorated
so that the French King would be impressed.
- The two kings became friends and made
peace......
- ...but three years later they were
at war with each other again.
