Notes

  • English politician and writer.
  • He studied Greek, Latin French, theology and music at Oxford University.
  • he studied law at Lincoln's Inn, London.
  • He was made speaker of the House of Commons in 1523.
  • He was knighted in 1521 as Sir Thomas More.
  • In 1509 he was made an adviser to Henry VIII.
  • He was favoured by henry and became Lord Chancellor in 1529.
  • When Henry VIII wanted to break from the Pope and the Church in Rome he resigned.
  • He would not agree to accepting Henry VIII as head of the church in 1534.
  • He was imprisoned in the Tower of London for a year and was then executed.
