- An English actor.
- It is thought he played the original
roles of Hamlet, Othello and King Lear in William
Shakespeare's plays.
- He also acted in plays written by Ben
Johnson, Thomas Kyd and John Webster.
- His father James Burbage (circa 1530-1597)
built the first English playhouse which was called 'The Theatre'.
- His brother Cuthbert (circa 1566-1636)
built the original Globe Theatre in London in 1599.
