Notes

  • Darnley was the second husband of Mary Stuart (Mary Queen of Scots).
  • He was father of James VI of Scotland who became James I of England.
  • Darnley is believed to have had Mary's secretary Rizzio murdered by his friends.
  • In 1565 he was knighted and became Sir Henry Stuart. He was made Earl of Ross and Duke of Albany.
  • In 1567 Darnley was murdered.
